Biogas - Centrifugal decanters

In the biogas sector, efficient digestate management is the foundation upon which the productivity of the entire plant is built. The heterogeneous nature of digestate, with its variations in load, concentration, and composition, requires the use of centrifugal decanters capable of ensuring stable performance even under the most irregular operating conditions. CBB Decanter designs solid-liquid separation systems specifically optimized for this sector, with the aim of valorizing both fractions and reducing overall treatment costs.

Industrial process

The digestate is conveyed into a high-speed cylindrical-conical drum. Centrifugal force causes the solid phase to settle on the drum wall, while the internal screw, operated at a differential speed, progressively transports it toward the outlet. The clarified liquid is continuously evacuated through dedicated openings, ensuring a regular and constant flow. The ability to adjust the operating parameters—differential speed, flow rate, and discharge pressure—allows the dryness of the solid fraction and the quality of the clarified liquid to be adjusted based on the specific characteristics of the digestate being treated.

CBB Decanter Technology

CBB Decanters for biogas are designed to meet the typical challenges of anaerobic digestion: fiber-rich digestates, heterogeneous organic loads, and compositional variations that can change over the course of a single operating day. The auger profile and internal geometry of the bowl are calibrated to ensure rapid and uniform sedimentation, minimizing solids loss in the liquid phase. Automatic control systems adjust torque, flow rate, and differential speed in real time, continuously adapting the machine’s behavior to plant conditions. Biogas-specific configurations include energy optimization solutions, helping to reduce consumption and improve overall process stability.

Frequently Asked Questions

They separate the solid fraction from the digestate, reducing volumes and improving the efficiency of the plant, optimizing the entire treatment process.

It improves digestate management, stabilizes energy production and reduces operating costs related to the disposal of solid fractions.

Yes, thanks to the automatic adjustment of the parameters which maintains constant yield even with very different materials.
