Centrifugal decanters for heavy sludge

Heavy sludge dewatering is among the most challenging applications in solid-liquid separation. High density, sustained viscosity, and the presence of abrasive components quickly challenge machines designed for standard applications. CBB Decanter develops centrifugal decanters specifically engineered to operate in these extreme conditions, combining robust construction and separation precision to ensure operational continuity and structurally reduce treatment costs.

Industrial process

The heavy sludge is fed into the high-speed rotating cylindrical-conical drum, where centrifugal force, significantly amplified compared to gravitational sedimentation, separates even the most difficult-to-separate phases. The internal screw, with a precisely adjusted differential speed, continuously and controlledly transfers the solids to the discharge area. The clarified solids are removed from the opposite side of the drum without interrupting the process. The ability to adjust speed, torque, and differential allows separation quality to be maintained even when the sludge composition undergoes significant variations, ensuring solids dryness adequate to the plant’s needs.

CBB Decanter Technology

CBB Decanter centrifuges for heavy sludge represent a structural and technological solution designed for the most demanding operating conditions. The bowl geometry is engineered to ensure constant centrifugal force and uniform sedimentation even with variable flow rates and materials with a high solids concentration. Real-time control systems for torque, differential speed, and fill level allow the machine to react autonomously to variations in sludge without compromising process continuity. The choice of high-strength alloys, anti-wear surface treatments, and reinforced components in the most stressed areas is the result of a design approach geared toward maximum durability, even when handling particularly aggressive materials.
